Daily Prayer For November 19, 2016

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord,

We thank you for the gift of friendship…we thank you for the wonderful people you bring into our lives who make us smile and laugh… we thank you for those special friends who share our joys and sorrows and who can sit in silence when we just need a shoulder to cry on… we thank you for friends who pray for us, encourage us and love us despite our failings. Please bless our friends, Lord and may your favor be upon them.

You knew before we were born who would be our friends…you have orchestrated events in our lives knowing who we would need to be around us at every stage of life… above all, Lord, we are especially grateful that you call us friend…your Word says that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends and because of your great love for us, you died for us…how thankful we are for your amazing love and grace that you lavish on us…may we be a good friend to you as well, Lord…you long to be intimately acquainted with each of us and to spend quality time with us…we don’t want to take you for granted …we want to make you the priority in our lives… we don’t want our love for you to grow cold or stagnant…we don’t want to neglect our time with you… we want to grow closer to you … we want you to be glorified in everything we say and do…we know we need your help to do these things, Lord…our spirit is willing, but our flesh is often weak…

Lord, please help us to love well…help us to love our neighbors as ourselves…help us to represent you well and treat each person with your loving-kindness… you care about the words we use and the way we make people feel… help us to love everyone with your love, including those who are difficult…remind us to pray not only for our friends and loved ones, but for our enemies as well…may we be concerned about a person’s spiritual well-being before anything else…help us to forgive as you forgive… may we be known for the type of kindness and compassion that you show to each of us…

Thank you for wanting only the best for us…thank you for being a friend that sticks closer than a brother…how exciting it is to think about what it will be like to spend eternity with you…to hear you laugh as you did with your disciples…to share a meal with you at your banquet table…to feel the joy and peace that will come from being in your presence…there is so much to look forward to…we love you, Lord and with gratitude and praise, we commit this day to you and all that’s in it and we ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen
