Daily Prayer For January 7, 2016

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord,

As we gather today, many are needing your strength to get them through the things they are facing… many are feeling weak, tired, overwhelmed and helpless… we ask for your Holy Spirit to comfort those whose hearts are broken…for those with health issues…for those who are watching loved ones struggle…for those who are in financial crisis and have come to the end of their resources with no one to help, seemingly no one who cares and they feel lost and alone and have no clue what to do or how to move forward…Lord, we call out to you and ask that you show everyone how to endure these things in your strength…help us to remember that nothing touches our lives that you have not allowed…help us trust beyond what is in front of us…help us to find a place of peaceful rest knowing you are faithful, you are present with us, you have a plan and a purpose to work all that is in front of us for our good… Show each one how to have the kind of faith your disciples did…your strength empowered them to face circumstances we can only imagine, yet they learned to rest, hope, endure, overcome, find contentment and peace and joy in the midst of such difficult and trying circumstances.

Lord, you understand our anxiety, stress, pain and grief. You showed us by example what to do when things seem too heavy for us to bear…you prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane…you cried out to your Father and poured out your heart…you were so heavy-hearted knowing all you faced, but then you rose up as more than a conqueror… and the power and strength that allowed you to endure everything that led to the cross…the power that allowed you to defeat death and rise from the grave…that is the power you offer to us to help us handle all that comes against us in this life…it is no small thing to say we can do all things through Christ. You don’t just give us strength, you become our strength! May we come to accept and understand your amazing gift…may we come to the place that we embrace all that you make available to us and quit trying to do everything on our own… may this be the year that we conquer our fears, master our anxious thoughts, overcome the stumbling blocks that keep us trapped in the same old cycles mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually… may we grow in faith, as we watch you do in us, what we could never do on our own. Fill us Lord to overflowing…help us to mature spiritually…please grant us your wisdom…help us to be the men and women you’ve called us to be…we thank you for your patience, loving kindness and great care for us. May we be teachable and pliable in your hands… In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
