Daily Prayer For February 15, 2016
Tue Feb 16, 2016 12:47 am
Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…
Our Father,
Your Word tells us that you are the God of hope and that we should rejoice in hope…that the hope of the righteous brings joy…that we should hope in you and hope in what we cannot see…that we grieve, but not as those who have no hope…
Lord, you don’t tell us not to grieve…you don’t tell us not to cry… you expect us to have heavy hearts when we see those we love suffer… You want our hearts to break over the things that break your heart… when we see pain and heartache and all that is wrong in this world, you want us to have a heart of compassion and to pray…you don’t tell us not to mourn when we lose someone… you don’t tell us to put on a constantly happy face, or pretend that everything is fine when it’s not… you tell us to be honest…with you and each other…you tell us there is a time to mourn… you tell us to grieve with those who grieve…you tell us to comfort others with the same comfort that we have received from you… you tell us that those who mourn are blessed, because they will be comforted by you…you, the God of all creation, comforts in our distress and affliction… you make note of our tears in your book and you collect them in your bottle…you know every emotion we face… you created every emotion, knowing that we would experience them…we are made in your image…you grieve, you weep, you care, your heart breaks right along with ours when we are brought to our knees by illness/loss/grief/death…you understand all we go through…But you don’t want us to lose hope… you don’t want us to despair…you don’t want us to give up…you tell us to look to you…to trust in you…to let your hope fill us and bring us joy…you want us to find comfort, strength, guidance and encouragement in your Word…you want us to remember that you give us a crown of beauty instead of ashes… the oil of joy instead of mourning… a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
Help us to be real and transparent with each other, Lord…help us to find safe havens of friendship, fellowship and family where we can be ourselves and be open and honest and not have to pretend that everything is ok when it isn’t…may we all find the strength, understanding and compassion that will allow us to take off the masks, to let down our guards and to dare to be vulnerable so we can find real healing and hope.
Lord, it’s not easy to trust, especially when we know from experience that not everyone is trustworthy or a safe place to be ourselves…please give us wisdom, knowledge and discernment in these matters…open doors and lines of communications…help us to be a safe place of compassion and understanding for others as well… please go before us this week and do a real work among us. Please bless our families and friends and meet their needs and may we bring you glory and honor in all that we say and do. In the name of Jesus we ask these things. Amen
May you be overtaken by His hope this week!
