Daily Prayer For October 23, 2015

Hello, Friends! I’m feeling led to re-post this prayer today..

Our Father,

As we gather today, we pray for anyone who is feeling incomplete … for those who feel sadness because someone is not in their life and they miss them… we often feel the absence in our lives of those whom we have loved and lost…we feel the loss on special dates and holidays … or we are reminded of how life used to be during certain times of the year…or sometimes even when we are enjoying life… we think about how our missing loved one would make that moment feel perfect and complete.

Father, when we get to heaven there are many things that we won’t have…like tears, death, suffering, and loss…but there is something important that we will have… a sense of completeness. We will be made whole and have the fullness of your joy. We will be completely and utterly satisfied to be in your presence and to be united with you. We will also feel a sense of completeness as we are reunited with our loved ones who have gone before us…we will be in every way, who and what we were created to be…not lacking in any way! May this thought give everyone a sense of hope, peace and comfort today…

Father, we lift up the divorced, separated and widowed…the parents who have lost children… all who are estranged, separated or unable to be with family members or friends… all who have never had the love, approval or blessing from their parents or children that they have longed for… for those who are dealing with things like dementia and Alzheimer’s and they miss the person who used to be… we lift anyone else that might be feeling the loss of someone important from their life… for each person who is hurting today, we pray for your comforting arms to enfold them. We ask that you would turn their mourning to joy….we ask that you would take away the feelings of emptiness and longing. May they find joy in happy memories and may they cling to you as you continually do your healing work in their lives.

Help each of us Lord, no matter what our circumstances or situation, to find our identity, our worth, our sense of self and our purpose in who we are as your child. Help us to realize that part of the longing and ache in our heart is there simply because this world is not our home…and we were not meant to be satisfied by this world or the things in it. Only you can truly fill the void that we all feel at times…only you can truly make us feel whole, complete and content, no matter who we are with, or where we are at.

Father, please meet each need, spoken and unspoken and may we be filled to overflowing with your joy today and the knowledge that you love us just as we are and you take delight in us…not because of what we have or haven’t done, but because of who you are. We love you Lord and we thank you for what you are doing in each of our lives. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen
