Daily Prayer For October 11, 2019

Hello, Friends. Here is the prayer for today…
Our Father,
We are told to pick up our cross and follow you. For many, they feel like their cross is too much to bear, but you never intended us to carry heavy loads by ourselves. You do not want us to collapse under the weight of our burdens. You stand ready to be our burden bearer. We need only surrender to you what weighs us down.
Our crosses are not intended to be comfortable or light. They are often much more than we can handle on our own, but they are never more than we can handle with your help. Our crosses become more of a burden when we become bitter and resentful, or when we begin to compare our lives with others…when we start to think that our load is more massive when compared with someone else’s. Help us to remember that your yoke is easy, and you make our burdens light. Help us not to resist or complain about our lot in life. Help us to remember that anything you allow is for a purpose, and you only want the best for us.
Help us remember that one day, we will be trading our cross for a crown, and our burdens will be lifted once and for all. Help us to submit our will to yours. Help us to have a mental picture of you walking beside us, carrying the things that weigh so heavily on our own shoulders. You offer your peace, your strength, your joy, your love, and your grace to each of us, and what you give, is always enough to see us through our trials and struggles.
Help us to remember to seek you when we feel our load getting too heavy. Help us to stop in our tracks and not try to go a step further without your help. Please help us to see our times of adversity, grief, illness, and loss as a chance to become closer to you and to become more like Jesus. Thank you for all you give and for all you do. We bow before you with humble hearts and open arms. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen
