The Case of the Disappearing Sim(s)
Fri May 31, 2019 8:15 am
Hi ya!
I know that it's been a while! This problem has happened on more than one occasion which leads me to tears because I get quite attached to my families. Here goes: In my last scenario/storyline my matriarch Lacy Reed had completed 2 LTW attended and received 2 Degrees. All the while she had been romancing Jon Lesson, Don Lothario and Jacob Salaman in Riverview. First, she was engaged to Jacob and they had a son she broke it off before the wedding on the rebound she married Jon Lesson had two more kidlets, Jon died before his second child was born. Let me stop here briefly to explain that when she started giving birth she wouldn't stop. That was problem #1 I was able to fix that one by changing households then going back. That happened twice. Problem #2 after break-up/make-up times 2 As they say third times a charm well there were no relationships in either Jacob's or Lacy's situation there could be no proposal. So I added Jacob to the family. I saved and exited the game. When I went back to the game Jacob was missing from the panel and LAcy couldn't interact with him. I then tried "reset sim" that didn't work then I attempted (installed) nrass. Iv was able to move Jacob out of the household and into another home (then lost him). So I went back to Lacy' s and guess what? There were three of her! and she still could not interact! Like I've said this happened before when I had a teen in the home and parents went on a free vacay and never returned! I wish I could that one. So my dilemma is I am constantly having to start over which is getting frustrating to say the least. I have checked and rechecked my CC for VBT's and everything is clean. If anyone out there can help me resolve this I will love you forever!!

The cloned sims are more than likely problems from bad CC you downloaded somewhere. The Sims 3 is notorious for bad CC and hidden mods in certain Custom Content that will make the game do crazy things like distorted sims and deformed sim babies (It happened to me years ago; some bad CC caused Claire Ursine's baby to be hideously deformed - scary! ). I think a lot of the earlier CC had a lot of bad stuff that messed simmers' games up. The only thing you can do is remove all the CC and see if you can find a hack or bad CC amongst it. You definitely have to make sure you download CC from reputable creators to prevent being blindsided by something that will corrupt your game. Here is a tutorial from MTS that shows how to sort and find bad CC.
I've always been a little suspicious of the NRras mods; I never had any problems with my game until I installed the Overwatch mod (Check out my blog). After I took it out of my game, my game went back to normal. But the MasterController reset may work with no problems.
As for the invisible sims, that does happen sometimes, usually because some weird glitch with their work outfits or something (Or possibly conflicting bad CC). I've always been able to fix it by sending the sim to the dresser and replanning their wardrobe or just going in and out of CAS.
Another tip is to delete all the cache files before you play the game each time to prevent any congestion and keep it running smoothly.
You may just have to be resolved to play without Custom Content if you can't find the bad stuff.
Good luck!
