Crock Pot Mississippi Chicken
Fri Aug 10, 2018 6:14 pm
Ingredients:
3 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breasts (fresh or frozen)
1 packet au jus gravy mix
1 packet ranch dressing mix
**1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter (or unsalted butter)
*6-8 pepperoncini peppers
**Note: You must use real butter not margarine, for this recipe to turn out right. Since Au Jus has a lot of sodium in it, I opted to use unsalted butter. This is the better option, in my opinion, especially if you are watching sodium intake. It turned out perfect, not too salty like it could be if you use salted butter. Very delicious this way.
*I used 6 Pepperoncini peppers - it was perfect.
Directions:
Add chicken breasts to the bottom of the slow cooker. Sprinkle both packets of au jus gravy mix and ranch dressing mix on top of the chicken. Then, top with stick of butter.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. (I usually cook for 8 hours)
The chicken will produce its own juices so you don’t have to add any other liquid to this.
When it’s ready, serve whole or take a couple of forks and shred the chicken. It will be very tender.
Then serve it up however you prefer. Served it up on some sub rolls with some provolone cheese for a great sandwich idea.
Enjoy!

You know, I have (3) nice pots, and why I don't use them is beyond me. This makes me wanna start cooking with them more now. And you're right!!!! The Best thing in the world to use when it's HoT!!!! Thanks! Plus, you don't have a lot of dishes to wash afterwards, and it doesn't make your house hot.

Wellllll, guess what???? I made this for dinner last week ----- I
I was eating that stuff, morning- noon- nitght!
Absolute gggggoooooooddddDDDDD stuffff Maynard! Thanks for sharing your recipe hunni! I'm not much of a bread eater, so next time I fix it, I'm gonna eat it with maybe mashed potatoes or buttered noodles, or ever rice. Utilize the broth, you know? I think I didn't drain enough juice off and my buns got soggy the first time, but it was really tasty.
Thanks again! Sorry about no pics, but I ate it so fast,, or should I say, 'Inhaled' it. - poppy
