Promises For The Broken Hearted - Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose
– Romans 8:28
This verse is a promise to all Christians who love God. It does not mean all things are good… it does not mean the death of a child or loved one is good… (and it is wrong and hurtful to tell someone grieving that it is!) This verse does not mean that suffering, illness, pain or loss are good…these are not desirable circumstances, they are difficult and hard…God never intended for us to experience any of these things, they are the result of living in a fallen world…but, we have this promise… God, in His sovereignty, has a plan in place for each believer to redeem everything for an eternal weight of glory. We may, or may not see this side of heaven, how God is working our circumstances for good, but we know, He will do this for each person that loves God. We can at this moment take comfort and rest in His promise, knowing that one day we will clearly see and understand everything.
One of the greatest examples of this promise would be the life of Joseph. He was betrayed and sold into slavery by his brothers, torn away from his family and homeland. He was falsely accused of a crime and imprisoned, left alone and forgotten…there was nothing good about any of those situations … but the tragic events of his life led him to be in the right place at the right time so that God could place Joseph in a position to save thousands of lives. All that the enemy meant for Joseph’s harm, God redeemed and used for good and God’s glory. (Genesis 50:20)
Take comfort friend. God has a plan and all things are being worked together for your good.

Amen! Thank you Jesus... This is so very true. It's not 'our' plan, or what 'we' want. It's ALL God's Plan. It's our choice to follow.
