Daily Prayer For August 1, 2016

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord,

Sometimes life and grief come at us in such powerful waves… it can feel overwhelming…like we will be swept away and overpowered by all that we face. Father, we pray to feel your calming presence today…we pray to feel your hand steadying us… for anyone who feels stressed, overwhelmed, grief-stricken, anxious or afraid, we ask for you to speak peace to their hearts and minds…

We thank you Lord, that your promises are there for us in the midst of all that rages against us. We thank you that we do not face anything on our own…we thank you for being the solid rock beneath our feet and the anchor that keeps us from drifting away and getting lost in the midst of chaos…You tell us to not be tossed to and fro and carried away with every wind of doctrine… you tell us not to doubt when we pray, because to doubt, is like being tossed back and forth in the waves…it’s easy to be overcome, but when we remember that Christ is our solid-rock, our life and our strength, it helps to steady us and put everything in perspective…

Lord, you know our innermost thoughts and feelings…you know the secret things we deal with…the things that people might not see on the outside…you know all the things that people don’t understand about us or our situations…you know the weariness and the difficulties and you know how often we feel ill-equipped to keep going on…thank you Lord, for your unfailing love, compassion, grace and peace…thank you for being our closest confidant, our greatest ally and our biggest supporter and source of encouragement … please meet us where we are at today, Lord… please guide us to smoother, calmer waters… we know that sometimes you don’t choose to calm the storms, but you choose to calm us…may we be at rest no matter what we face, knowing you are with us and in control…may we find you to be our safe harbor and shelter…may your grace sustain us and may we find your hope like a beacon in the night…help us to remember that faith is believing in advance what will only make sense in the future…help us trust you to pilot us safely till you call us home….you have not brought us this far to stop taking care of us now. Please go before us we pray. In the name of Jesus we ask these things. Amen
