Finally Getting Acquainted with my Sims 3!
Sun Feb 07, 2016 2:05 pm
My Friends! I tell you, I've got a lot on my plate right now. After 3 years, or has it been 5 since the Sims 3 has graced our computers with all the craziness that Simmies can bring, I have 'Finally' been able to play my game. Just a a year ago, I packed up my -How to Play Sims 3 Book, CD- and a few other things associated to this game, and was gonna sale it in one of my yard sales. Low and behold, I find that I am able to log into my game thru Origin and see :affraid: all that I have missed.
When I logged on, using just the Base Game, needless to say, I was Not Impressed in the least! Then I realized, I didn't have the wonderful world of "Seasons", or any of the other packs that make a huge difference in how the game is played and looks, so decided to continue on with my venture. So far I'm liking it, but I've run into a few snags. For one thing, I couldn't figure out 'how' to "Save" my game, as it is totally different than how my Sims 2 and 4 are saved. It asks you if you wanna save the Town? Well, I thought when you exit out, the town is automatically saved... Still not sure about this one, so when I exit outta my New Sim that I've played, I save as it using the name of the Sim I'm playing, and have noticed that when I go back to the Main Menu, I see the Sim I was playing, so just assume I've saved my Sim Family correctly.
Then I noticed my game doing all sorts of weird stuff, like, running "very slow", "freezing" and then :affraid: Zappppp, I'm back to viewing the icons on my desktop - "Game Crashed"! Helloooooo, what the heck is going on? After several attempts at buying my Simmie some clothes (only 3 outfits per occasion, which is totally ridiculous), I have to ensure to save my game soon as my simmie pops back to her room, or my game crashes after a few seconds of play, and I've lost every thing she's bought!
Well, I needed an insight on what was going on, and how to correct it, so I signed onto the Technical Help, and saw that - hisgurl0627 - had some problems with her game running slow as well. Not sure if it was crashing and all, but Cinda and Nancy game some tips on how to resolve it. I've done what they both have suggested, so have yet to play my game to see it it works. I did have a lot of files that ended with the "Cache" at the end and I've dumped all of those, so we'll see what happens now they are outta my game.
I do have some strange looking things though, and was wondering if anyone gets these as well. Not sure if I should those as well? Just below everything I have some stuff that says (Text Document) and (Dump File). What are these, and is it okay to delete these? They look like this...
xcpt BABYDOLL-PC 16-02-06 20.52.18 Dump File
xcpt BABYDOLL-PC 16-02-06 20.52.18 Text Document
I've got (6) of those puppies, down at the bottom. (Sorry bout the Caps, but that's the way they look)... If these are something I can delete and don't need, I'd appreciate the info as to what I should do with this them, as I'm sure it's something that accumulates each time I play my game, but not sure, so any info you have to share is much appreciated.
Okay, I'm off to test my game. Looking forward to seeing what my Sims 3 has to offer. Enjoy your day Simming Y'all!

Just wanted to share with everyone, that I followed the tips that were posted in Sims 3 Technical Help, about Deleting all of the Cache after you end or before you start a new game. It works! Have not had a single problem since I started doing this.

Hi hun Glad things are working out for you! As far as saving, it's best just to use Save rather than Save as. It will always load up in the family you last played, as that's the way the mad the game - it's really different from the others.
Don't delete anything but the cache files, or else it can mess your game up. Anything you would like to know about the Sims 3, let us know and we will try to help you!
