Daily Prayer For October 11, 2016

Hello, Friends! Here is today’s prayer…
Dear Heavenly Father,
There is so much in this world that distracts us…so much noise…so many things that seem so urgent, but yet they are just energy and time drainers… this world seems increasingly chaotic and full of so much stress and anger…please help us to let go of all that isn’t necessary, so we can find time to be still before you… so we can hear your voice above everything else…so we stay focused on the things that really matter and help us to be the best we can be.
Lord, we know the enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy…he loves to rob us of our joy and to keep us from experiencing all you have for us…the enemy longs to steal our peace and one way he does that is to put things in our path that keep us from spending time with you, our source of peace and comfort…there is so much anger, division and descension that surrounds us…when we focus on the state of things in the world, it’s easy to become overwhelmed…to feel irritated…to be angered by the things that others say and do…to worry and despair over what the future may hold…but you have not given us a spirit of fear…you have given us a sound mind and a thousand reasons to hope…
Help us to remember that you are in our midst…you are our hiding place, our place of safety, our refuge from the storms, our defender and you are a shield about us…help us to guard our hearts and minds…what we feed our minds is just as important as what we feed our bodies…help us to be mentally and emotionally healthy…help your church to be emotionally healthy…help us to be wise and discerning and to be on alert so we are not caught off guard or deceived…help us to remember who our true enemy is…who is behind all the chaos, anger and division…help us to be good stewards with all that you have entrusted to us…body, mind and spirit…there is so little we can control in this life, but we can choose which thoughts we entertain…we can choose when to say “no”…when can choose to “unplug” from the noise in the world and just spend time in your presence…
You are the solid rock beneath our feet…when everything seems off kilter, help us to look up to you…when we look to you, everything else fades away…we remember why we are here and that you make all things new and all things beautiful in your time…thank you Lord, for all you do for us…for all you give us…for all that you are…for all that you have overcome, and all that we have overcome through you. We thank you for all that is to come…help us to remember we are your beloved children and nothing that the enemy forms against us shall prosper. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen
